London Buses route 187 is a Transport for London contracted bus route in London, United Kingdom. The service is currently contracted to First London.

History[]

Route 187 use to run from South Harrow via it Alperton, Park Royal, Harlesden, West Kilburn, Maida Vale, Swiss Cottage and terminated at Hampstead Heath. In 1965 the route was withdrawn between Hampstead Heath and West Kilburn, replaced by former route 187A. When route 187A was withdrawn in 1970, route 187 was extended back to Hampstead Heath; but this section was again discounted and replaced by route 46 in 1982.

When route 187 was transferred from Metroline to London Traveller based at the Harlesden garage in 1999, new route 487 was created to replace it between South Harrow and Central Middlesex Hospital. In 2000 route 187 was extended via route 46 to Swiss Cottage and route 82 to the new O2 Centre on Finchley Road.

Due to management with London Traveller (Metropolitan Omnibus) route 187 and 487 was transferred to Thorpes at the Perivale garage in 2002 using a mixture of London Traveller's Dart's, Dart's from 70, 210 and 316 and some double-decks.

But Thorpe's also had problems managing these two routes and surrendered them early 2004. First Centrewest won the contracts for the two routes and operate route 187 from the new willesden Junction garage and 487 at Alperton; using Dennis Dart SLF 10.2m / Marshall Capitals.
