The 5 is a bus route in Birmingham, United Kingdom operated by National Express West Midlands. It serves as the 451's replacement and is not to be confused with Birmingham to Solihull service 5.

Present[]

The 5 is a major bus route that runs from Sutton Coldfield to West Bromwich bus station. It runs for approximately seven miles, which in good traffic can take as little as 40 minutes.

The 5 runs a lot more frequently since the improvements to transport in Sandwell and runs every 7/8 minutes weekdays during peak times. It operates seven days a week. The service usually uses branded Plaxton President/Volvo B7TL. Around peak times other vehicles may be added and in evenings single deckers such as Mercedes-Benz O405N and Volvo B6LE are also used.

History[]

  • On October 28th 2012 the 5 officially replaced the 451 as part of the Sandwell transport improvements by Centro.
